We always find it difficult to speak in superatives when it comes to close friends and our label bands, but here we'll make an exception: One Voice are back with their second long player and should definitely be a hot contender for THE Oi! album of the year!
After their sold-out debut album "Tradition not Trend", numerous 7-inches and compilation contributions, the band produced and recorded the follow-up "Not everybody's cup of tea" this time with "Heartbreak Engines"-Okie. And the 12 new songs impressively show that this decision was spot on! ONE VOICE have perfected their sound even further and were able to fully develop their potential. And there is a lot to discover on "Not everybody's cup of tea".
The opener "Back in the Days" is a passionate wake-up call to all scene veterans to get their damn asses back up again instead of wallowing in memories...the scene doesn't live on its own "Don't you think it's time again to go to gigs....sing a long, dance and drink with your friends?"
Of course, not everyone can be as busy as the three friends Joost, Andre and Phil and we can't even list all the bands the guys from ONE VOICE have played in (Diggerz, On the Rampage, Dörpms, Bunga Bunga Club, Evil Conduct should be enough).
The crisp 3-chord anthem "CHEERS TO YOU" pays its deepest respect to all supporters and scene activists who make this possible.
With songs like "Beyond savings", "Golden Days" or "Tables have turned" the band shows a completely different, personal facet: Life also has dark sides and blows that have to be dealt with! "Hate took their whole heart" and "Anti-Establishment" are just the logical development and - incidentally - absolutely awesome street punk anthems!
"Not everybody's cup of tea" is a revelation for fans of the classic skinhead sound! Hardness to the point paired with just the right amount of melody and emotion.
And as we said at the beginning: If you list your Oi! favorites this year, it will be right up there, we promise!
